Delta Dental of Oklahoma Oral Health Foundation announced the recipients of its 2016-2017 Delta Dental Scholarship Fund at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. Scholarships are awarded to dentistry students who have demonstrated academic excellence, as well as a commitment to their communities. Each of the 12 scholarship recipients received $5,000.
“Recruiting and retaining some of the best dental school candidates is a top priority for the college, as Oklahoma faces a potential shortage of dentists in the coming years,” said Raymond Cohlmia, D.D.S., and dean of the OU College of Dentistry. “The investment from the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Oral Health Foundation in dental education supports our efforts to bring in talent from around the world who share our professional values and seek to serve patients with the highest industry standards.”
Since the Foundation began its scholarship program in 2001, more than $680,000 has been awarded to 136 OU College of Dentistry students who plan to practice within the state after graduation. Delta Dental of Oklahoma has contributed more than $19 million through the Foundation to help provide greater access to oral health care and education to all citizens of Oklahoma.
